AirPods are fantastic until they stop being , and that happens between a year and a half and two years after acquiring them. That seems to be the widespread complaint of various users of these wireless headsets that is emerging in social networks such as Twitter or Reddit.

That tragedy so widespread among AirPods users not only affects them: it is a condemnation of most headphones of this type, whose batteries and features are degraded over time . The problem is that AirPods have become one of the signature products of the firm, but its users are beginning to realize that spending 200 euros every two years on headphones may not compensate.

The complaints that affect Apple’s AirPods have been accumulating for months. They do it mostly on social networks, and Twitter or Reddit are clear meeting points for all those affected by the problems that affect these headphones when some time passes.

They disconnect all the time. Will say it’s out of battery after 30-45 minutes. One ear would disconnect or both disconnect and then only one…

It seems that this time is in fact very specific: after a period that oscillates between 18 and 24 months users notice a significant degradation of the performance of AirPods . They complain about the autonomy of the battery, which falls very noticeably, but also of its functions, with frequent cuts or problems with the volume.

For some users that is more or less acceptable , but the threads in Reddit are numerous (a lot ) and so are the articles in the general and technological media .

In The Atlantic they talked about the subject and titled it ” Your AirPods will die soon ” while in The Outline they recommended us to forget the AirPods and buy “the cheapest Bluetooth headphones we could find” . Earlier in the year at 9to5Mac they talked about how those who bought them when they left began to notice how the AirPods are already of an age .

Much more aggressive was the issue they made in Vice, where in an article entitled ” AirPods are a tragedy ” criticized not only that problem with the autonomy and degradation of batteries, but also what that means for the environment : it is basically impossible to recycle them because their assembly process makes removing the lithium ion battery expensive in time and resources. And if that were not enough they alluded to the quality of the sound offered by the AirPods, and that according to RTings was “below average”.
